Newborn Photography

When should I have my newborn session?
The best time to take pictures of your little one is in the first 12 days of its life. Usually the sooner the better if you want those “squishy and curled up” images of your baby.

Why is the newborn session recommended so early in the baby's life?
In the first 2 weeks, your baby is still very sleepy and won’t be bothered by the photographer when placing your baby in position. Furthermore, the older a baby is, the more difficult it will be to settle it. The chance of baby acne will also increase with the age of the baby.

What if my baby is older than the recommended time period?
We can still do a lifestyle shoot, however, certain posing images might not be working anymore depending on the mood of the baby.

What do I need to prepare for the lifestyle shooting in my home?
A warm cozy room with a lot of natural light (big window) is preferred. To avoid your little one getting cold, I would recommend a fan heater or something similar in the room. If any specific props are wanted, such as blankets/clothing/stuff toy with an emotional meaning, keep them ready for the shoot.

How do I prepare my baby for the shooting?
I recommend trying to keep your baby awake for a little bit before the shooting and feed your baby just before the shooting starts. This will more likely guarantee a deep and long sleeping time of your baby.

How do I keep my baby awake?
There are different ways to keep your little one from sleeping, however, the most common way is a bath. If you don’t want to do this, exposing your baby’s chest and/or feet to the air is often already enough.

What time of day are the sessions?
Sessions are generally in the morning/early afternoon to guarantee good lighting conditions.

How long will the newborn session take?
One session is usually 3 to 4 hours but can take up to 6 hours, depending on your baby’s mood that day. Also considering the time for feeding and settling your baby.

When should I book?
I recommend booking as soon as you know your due date to avoid disappointments. Once your little one is born we will confirm a date in the recommended time period.
